THE TREE
by Samantha Borders-Shoemaker
Dawn
Looks a lot like evening
Cast in the light of loss.
Who are we in the shadow of The Tree?
Our griefs
Find sanctity, relief
In crucified, loving arms
Who are we in the shadow of The Tree?
Separation wide
Is set far to the side
As the sacrifice takes hold.
Who are we in the shadow of The Tree?
Evening
Looks a lot like dawn
Cast in the light of redemption.
We stand alongside Thee, redeemed
In the shadow of The Sacred Tree.
