Important Church Updates from Pastor Dan
Updated March 2, 2021

Help is Needed

Dear Trinity,

I have put a tremendous amount of work into setting up and fine-tuning our tv displays for worship services, sound, and livestream. I am quite proud of the livestream, tv/projector displays, and sound quality that we now have! Now I desperately need to ask for your help. There is a desperate need to volunteers to assist in running small technical parts at all 3 services on Sunday mornings. The great thing is that these volunteer opportunities are neither difficult nor do they require a great deal of technical knowledge. If you can turn on a computer, turn on a tv, and use a basic ipad then you have all the skill you need. I will train volunteers to do the small but very important parts needed at each service. I am praying to have a team of volunteers to fill in at each service. It would be great to have enough volunteers to create a schedule so that folks can rotate Sunday for which they serve.

Please, consider this volunteer opportunity – even if it pushes you a little out of your comfort zone. Helps is needed. Please contact Richard Winfree at music@mytrinity.org or 757-357-3659 if you are willing to help. Please note, my phone does not text so please leave a voice message if you call.

Example volunteer functions include:
Camera operator at 11:00 Service: There are no buttons to push! Just rotate the camera from the Pastor to the Liturgist, and back. Hoping for 3-4 volunteers.
Control TV/Projector screens (all 3 service): You push 1 button to move to the next slide. You continue pushing that 1 button for the entire service. That’s it! Hoping for 6 or more volunteers.
Turning on all the computers and TV in proper sequence: I will train anyone who is willing to learn to turn on the TVs and Computers in the sanctuary in the proper sequence. It’s quite easy once you get the pattern down. Hoping for 4 or more volunteers.
Control the Sound Ipads (all 3 services): This is as easy task, too. Everything is already setup for you, you will just need to hit “mute” buttons to turn sound on and off throughout the service. Hoping for 6 or more volunteers.

With Faith, Hope, and Love,

Richard Winfree
Director of Music & Worship Arts

Easter Flowers
As we head into the Lenten season, it’s time for us to also start thinking about Easter! This year, we will be offering geraniums to have put in front of the altar for $9 a piece. To place your order, call or email the church office with your name, the amount you’d like to order, and if they are in honor or memory of someone. You can either mail in a check, drop it off at the church office, or place it in a marked envelope in an offering plate. Be sure to place your order by March 29!

Sunday Worship
We are excited to be back to IN PERSON worship starting this coming Sunday, February 7! PLEASE ADHERE TO ALL COVID-19 PROTOCOLS, including 6 feet of social distancing, wearing a mask at all times, and refraining from “bunching up” in groups after worship. If you are especially concerned about being in a crowd, consider attending our 8:30am worship service held in the sanctuary. It is our least attended service by far with plenty of room for distancing between households. We will continue to do our best to offer livestream on Facebook and our website at 11am for those who choose to remain safest at home. We look forward to worshipping with you as Pastor Dan continues his new series on the Lord’s Prayer!

Annual Giving Statements
The annual giving statements for 2020 are now available! They have been mailed out and you should receive them shortly. If you would prefer to have your statement emailed or have any questions, call or email the church office at 357-3659/ trinityumcsmithfield@mytrinity.org.

Email SmithfieldCaregiverGroup@gmail.com for further information. You must register to participate, and sign-in details for the meeting will be emailed to you.

Church Office Mail Slot
Church family, we thank you for your faithful giving throughout this unusual and trying time. While we continue to pursue more secure means of obtaining your donations, we ask that you do not leave donations through the mail slot near the church office. Instead, we suggest that you follow one of these more secure methods of getting your donations in, including: online giving, leaving an envelope in the offering plate during service, mailing in the donation, or coming to drop it off during office hours. Thank you for your help as we strive to serve you better.

Giving Envelopes
In preparation for the new year, we have giving envelopes available for each church member’s household. You can either grab your box with your corresponding envelope number at your convenience outside the church office, or email/call the church office to have it set aside for pick up during the week.

Reminders
To help the life of the church, here are some reminders:
1) If you’re the last to leave, please be courteous and turn off the lights and lock up behind yourself.
2) The church office is open Monday-Thursday from 9am-3pm and is closed on Fridays. All communications submitted over the weekend will be answered the following Monday.

Many thanks!
