About Us
A Historic Place of Worship
Trinity United Methodist Church was the first church built in the Town of Smithfield, built in 1812, sixty years after the town was established. Throughout the years, the church went through many changes, which ultimately led to where it is today.
Trinity is a historic United Methodist Church that welcomes all, worships passionately, challenges the status quo, and seeks to transform the world through God’s love. Drawing upon long-established rituals and spiritualities, Trinity is innovative and pioneering in our efforts to be a place of positive change within Christianity, within our denomination, within ourselves and in the world. Our church is affiliated with the Mission Rivers District within the Virginia United Methodist Conference.

If you’re searching for something to believe in and a place to belong, you are always welcome here. Join us at Trinity for a service, a program, or a lifetime.
